In January, we’ll take some tips from Christian psychologist Dr. Gary Vaughn’s new book, Tune Up Your Marriage (Warner Press). This book (written with men in mind—but a good read for women too!) is an excellent primer for marriage, biblically grounded and proven true. The author will join us, illustrating with metaphors drawn from his experience working in an auto garage in college. Car talk for couples.

Losing My Religion: How I Lost My Faith Reporting on Religion in America and Found Unexpected Peace is a thoughtful, if provocative, spiritual memoir published last year by William Lobdell, a forty-something journalist who was, until recently, the religion editor of the Los Angeles Times. Lobdell’s journey from believing in nothing to believing Jesus is Lord to believing there is no God (with stops and profound commitment in several Christian churches along the way) is at once a respectful and yet, at the same time, profoundly challenging review of the faith to which we all too often glibly subscribe.

The questions he raises for all of us—sometimes already considered in the deepest reach of our own hearts but never uttered for fear of bringing doubt to life—will frame our ViewPoint broadcasts as the new year begins. We’ll walk alongside, with Scriptures, hearts, and minds in hand. Looking at the same evidence, we’ll draw different conclusions. The living Christ will walk alongside too. He’s able to take the heat, face the challenges, and lead us to truth. It’s the journey, it’s the world, from Heaven’s view.

It’s all ahead on ViewPoint. Stay tuned.

Do you ever get tired of asking questions or wrestling with the big questions in life—like how does evil exist, and why do bad things happen to good people? Do you ever want to throw your hands up and say “enough already?” Join Jim Lyon and Jennifer Wilson this week on ViewPoint as they stared down some of those questions. How do we wrestle with evil? And how can we still believe in God.
