Eye on the World—Cote D’Ivoire 2008

CBH Eye on the World

Cote d’Ivoire 2008

Update 1

Plane at Paris airportOur group, I’ll dub the CBH Four, includes Wayne Halblieb of Union City, Michigan; Jim Fox, my son Tad Ritchhart and me (Logan Ritchhart) all of Anderson, IN. We departed along with our host, Larry Sellers on Thursday morning, January 31, for Cote D’Ivoire West Africa. Our trip was smooth with only one slight delay in Paris of about forty-five or fifty minutes. We arrived in Abidjan and set up for the night at a guest house located in the heart of Abidjan. Our hosts were warm and friendly, as were the Ivorian people that we met along the way. After dinner at Debonair’s Pizza, Cote D’Ivoire’s version of Pizza Hut imported from South Africa, we retired for the evening and slept like babies.

Saturday was spent in Abidjan gathering supplies that we would need during our stay. We purchased mic stands, power supply adapters for the studio and several other items that we would need for our work and then we headed out for Yamoussoukro.

Dinner at Debonairs PizzaDuring our visit, I will be setting up the equipment in the new studio that has been prepared at the Church of God headquarters in Yamoussoukro, about three hours north of Abidjan. Wayne, Jim and Tad will be working around the studio installing, building shelves, and doing other finishing work to make the studio ready for the broadcast that will launch later this fall. Also, as you’ll hear in future updates Jim Fox will be leading a local congregation in a weeklong spiritual emphasis week focusing on discipleship.

This new French broadcast has been in the works for more than three years. It is a dream that God placed in the heart of Larry Sellers nearly twenty years ago while serving in Haiti. Larry and Dwight Dye had numerous conversations about a broadcast that would reach the French speaking countries, sharing the hope of Jesus Christ. That reality of that dream will soon be coming to pass. This new broadcast will have the potential to reach twenty two French speaking countries located on the continent of Africa.
