The History of Christians Broadcasting Hope

The first broadcast of CBH, originally known as the Christian Brotherhood Hour, was transmitted January 4, 1947, by radio station KGGF in Coffeyville, Kansas. Speaker, Dr. Dale Oldham, was a pioneer in religious broadcasting continually finding new and creative ways to bring the message of Jesus to a hurting world.

Today, ViewPoint continues the rich legacy of CBH English broadcasting. Hosted by Jim Lyon, ViewPoint is heard each week literally around the globe.

CBH Spanish, "La Hermandad Cristiana," first aired on Sunday, July 4, 1965. The program, currently hosted by Gilbert Davila, is produced in Texas and California. Each week broadcasts are sent into Central and South America, Cuba, Spain, as well as throughout the Hispanic community of the United States.

In 1979, CBH-Portuguese was born. Initially broadcasting throughout much of Brazil, CBH-Portuguese is now heard over the entire continent of South America as well as in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Portugal and Mozambique. Each week speaker Mario Hort blends biblical teaching with inspiring music to bring the hope of Christ to listeners.

In the summer of 1984, CBH launched its next venture, CBH-Russian. The broadcast, produced in Germany, targeted Russian speaking people in what was both free Europe as well as behind the Iron Curtain. Today CBH-Russian continues, under the direction of speaker Walentin Schuele, broadcasting hope and assisting in tangible humanitarian efforts to the Russian community in the name of Jesus Christ.
