CBH, Christians Broadcasting Hope, is excited to announce that our ViewPoint broadcast with Jim Lyon and Jennifer Wilson is now available in podcast form. Some might ask, What is a podcast? Simply stated, a podcast is a media file, in this case a ViewPoint prgram, that is distributed over the Internet for playback on iPods, other digital audio players, and personal computers.

The concept of podcasting was concieved as early as 2000, and its technical components were available by 2001. By 2003, regular podcasts started showing up on well-known Web sites across the Internet. A podcast is distinguished from other digital audio formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically. The downloaded programs can then be played, replayed, or archived just like any other computer file.

One of the essentials of podcasting is known as the feed. ViewPoint offers the convenience of RSS feeds, which provide a means to deliver new ViewPoint programs directly to subscribers as soon as they are posted on the Internet. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. You will need an RSS reader to properly interpret the RSS feeds on the channel. These readers also allow you to subscribe to the ViewPoint channel, which is a free service that does not cost the listener anything. The RSS feed also alerts you to any important changes or additions to the ViewPoint site, such as the posting of a new program.

There are significant benefits to podcasting over, for example, listening to the radio. No advantage is more significant than the fact that you can enjoy ViewPoint programs wherever you want, at any given time twenty-four hours a day.

All of this means that ViewPoint is now more accessible to listeners than ever. To access the podcast, simply go to our ViewPoint Web site at cbhviewpoint.org. Click on the “Listen Now” button. You will then be transported to the ViewPoint broadcast page at OnePlace.com. Once there, you will find the “Podcast” button in the top right-hand corner. Click that button and you will be guided through a very simple, free, registration process that will allow you to receive regular and automatic updates to the ViewPoint broadcast.
