Experience the CBH Retreat to the Cove
“There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven … a time to plant and a time to harvest … a time to grieve and a time to dance … a time to be quiet and a time to speak up … a time to tear down and a time to rebuild …” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-7)
With these words, Solomon famously captures the complex weave of everyday life, the vividly colored threads that are woven into the tapestry of everyone’s journey, the balanced pattern of contrasts that give depth and breadth to everyone’s story. They are ancient ideas that still ring true. They speak of seasons—a season for everything. They remind us that we must, with intention, bring balance to our lives, enjoying each season, defining each moment, holding each day sacred, one after the other, even though some will bring tears and others will bring joy. Both kinds of days are necessary; both can be woven together by Heaven’s hand for our good.
Some days require us to work; others call us to rest. Some days (most days?) are filled with demands and responsibilities that must be met. Every now then, we have a chance “to be quiet,” “to rebuild,” “to mend,” “to search.” Every now and then, we have, as the Scriptures observe in that third chapter of Ecclesiastes, “a time to keep.”
The CBH Retreat to the Cove is a time to keep. It is the perfect balance to the necessary pressures of ordinary life. To study, to listen, to reflect, to enjoy, to pray, and to just be at the Cove, as the vivid colors of autumn set the North Carolina mountains ablaze, is to be reminded that yes, there is a time for everything—and that this is a time to take a deep breath, sit back, and marvel at God’s love, His plans, and His purposes. Even now, as we unpack our bags and settle in for a few days, He is at work, weaving, unfolding, redeeming. Hold still…shhh. Sometimes at the Cove, you can hear His loom moving, back and forth, back and forth, carefully, gently, beautifully. This is a season to see and watch, to know.
CBH’s Retreat to the Cove will take place October 17-20, 2010 at the Billy Graham training Center—the Cove, just outside Ashville, North Carolina. You know, Jesus found himself, from time to time, at points in life where He needed to draw away for a time to be alone with God. The drain of life and ministry on our Lord often led to moments of needed rest and prayer. These occasions renewed His spirit and body with the energy necessary to carry out the call of God on His life. The Bible reminds us that Jesus “…went away by Himself to pray in a desert” (Luke 5:15).
Come join us at the Cove in October. You’ll be glad you did…we promise! A limited amount of space is still available. Call today—800-757-VIEW (8439).
